Mission Progress
So hi!
I'm completely new to GW, and I have a question.. I've only been playing the game for a day, so I've not come far yet, but when I'm in the middle of a quest, and I log off and on again, I've lost my progress!! When I press [L] it says that I don't have a mission, it's all black. Is that a bug or something, or do you have to finish a mission before I log off? That would be weird... Any help welcome! |

No bug, yes you can log off during quests, but not Enter missions. An enter mission is where you have to talk to someone (nightfall) and you would be transported to a place with a set of objectives, which you cannot come back to half way through, only restart.
Or in Prophecies, clicking the words "Enter Mission" under your party window. Same for Factions. Quests where you talk to someone, follow your arrow can be left at any time and come back to, its just enter missions that you have to complete whilst online. |

There is no 'save' feature. If you log off in the middle of a mission, you have to restart the entire mission. A quest you can log off in the middle of, but any unfinished goals for it will remain unfinished, and your location will also reset.

Yea its the one thing I have always hated in GW, but in almost any MMORPG you can't save your progress in the middle of a map - only in outposts. It makes it more grinding

Please understand that the game creates an "instance" when you enter a mission or walk outside an outpost. That "instance" is deleted once all the members leave (by mapping out, exiting the program, or by one member walking inside an putpost). An "instance" is temporary, while the outposts/guild halls are kept open.
The good news is that every particular mission has been designed to be completed in a reasonable amount of time. So you aren't losing all that much if you disconnect or have to exit the mission before completion. Also, missions are repeatable. Regardless, experience/faction/reputation gained and items obtained stay with your character. There's no need to "save." |

Just how could an online game work in any other way ?
Ok if your playing solo or with hero/henchmen it would be possible to have a save game but then farming would be really easy as you would just save the game seconds before the Boss died or the chest was opened etc. Keep reloading the save till you get the drop you wanted. Couldn't see any way I could save my game in the middle of a mission then log off, what the heck happens to the party of people I was with. Online games of necessity have to be played live and only saved at specific points. |
